This back yard project had great potential to design several outdoor rooms for seating, dining, and entertaining. The space was limited and needed a substantial demo to open up the area and make it look as large as possible. The clients had some definite thoughts on what they wanted and that was very helpful as collaboration is a very important part of our process. We began with the hardscape by creating a pattern for the concrete forms that allowed for walkways and space for pockets of plants, gravel spaces and seating. The largest platform was selected for the seating and fire pit area. The second was by the garage for dining. We wanted to marry the two areas and create a connection with the hardscape design so the whole space became a cohesive visual unit. Smaller issues like the wall behind the water feature needed some TLC so it, and the back fence got a stucco upgrade and paint to make the walls as reflective as possible. Irrigation was installed for the plants and mulch applied to help with retaining moisture and preventing weeds. We kept the plants to a mid to low height so as not to overwhelm the planter pockets while choosing material with as much color as possible.
Our services include landscaping, hardscaping, low voltage lighting and irrigation systems. We also create custom fencing, gates, pergolas and decks.
