The back yard was very lush but had become cluttered and overgrown. There was an excess of planter pots, raised garden beds and plant material. The interior of the home had just received a major remodel including 5 bifold doors that now overlooked the garden. To create a design more in keeping with the mid-century modern architecture of the home and the re-model, we removed all the existing wooden bannisters, reshaped and downsized the deck. Added a seating area adjacent to the deck with two water features, a framed living wall and a built-in fire pit. We replaced the original red wood deck with Brazilian IPE, and retained the existing pergola (as it had a wonderful array of established Bougainville and trumpet vine) that created natural shade. Most for the railroad ties and plant material were removed from the yard except for the planter spaces that the walls. We opened up the space in front of the deck by removing all the plant material and replacing with well-spaced low-lying cactus and succulents. DG, gravel and concrete stepstones for walkways were added to easily navigate the garden. The original bar-b-q island was stripped down to the frame and repositioned to align with the deck fluidly. It was then rebuilt and enlarged and smooth new tile was added instead of the original stack-stone. Low voltage lighting was installed throughout the garden to highlight plant material, walls, and boulders.
Our services include landscaping, hardscaping, low voltage lighting and irrigation systems. We also create custom fencing, gates, pergolas and decks.
